April Cerise, In Memoriam
lone
November 2012

although it stands alone,
it stands tall and on its own.

its leaves wax and wane
scattered by the wind
yet roots keep it firmly grounded.

home to hundreds of little blackbirds
when season calls for it,
it's never truly alone.

don't pull the roots--
they are nourishing.
